She posts on LJ as ozarque, but she's better known as the author of the Native Tongue series, and also of "The Gentle Art of Verbal Self Defense". She's an Ozarks-born linguist and a woman I greatly admire. (Even though I get cranky about the ending premise of the Native Tongue series.)
