Give me them all
May. 22nd, 2009 05:58 pmI want them all, give me them all,
Twelve in the kitchen and six in the hall,
They can sleep in the bath, they can nest in the tree,
There are unloved children - give them to me!
Give me them all, the large and the small,
Nine in the attic room, hope they don't fall,
I'll build them an outhouse, I'll give them my bed,
These children so loveless they're beaten or dead.
Give them to me, I have love enough
The kind and the nasty, the sweet and the tough,
Before they are broken or numbed as in death,
Let me tell them I love them with every breath.
Give all the children I see on the news
The love and the tears which are minimal dues
For my failure to give them a reason to live
I should have found them. Who can forgive?
